Cortex (1999)
Take, for example, an apple as an obsessive symbol of knowledge and of desire. This metaphor is at the heart of this work, which explores the tension between curiosity and desire as an impulsive phenomenon. The rapidity of the movements and their physical complexity serve as an antidote to the dancers’ thoughts and obsessions. Playing upon and against ideas of mental inhibition, Cortex is a delirious whirlpool that comes close to derision.

Choreographer: Dominique Porte

"(…) Magnificent (…) here, Porte reveals a surprising virtuosity." Financieel economic, Gent, Belgium, 1999

7 Gouttes et des poussières (1998)
This work was inspired by the art of Chinese calligraphy, in an attempt to "find the hidden meanings of things". It is an interaction of words and projected images, where the movement develops, at times very quick, at times more fluid, but always brilliantly clear.

"…The most daring and complete of Porte’s works to date" Le Devoir, 1998, Montreal

"Using words as inspiration, she moves with impeccable precision and clarity, embroidering with such complexity and speed that the eye cannot take in all her movements." The Gazette, 1998, Montreal

Déviation (1997)
Choreographer/performer: Dominique Porte
Original music: Laurent Maslé
Lighting: Robert Gauthier
Set design: François Pilotte, Jacques Viennet
Costumes: Daniel Éthier et VANDAL

"Many of the movements, of an extreme vivacity, a clarity and a precision that are simply fascinating, give the spectator the impression that the dancer could, at any moment, explode into a thousand pieces. (...) The intelligence of the choreographic composition of the piece, where we find the recurring theme of deviation, may be the best proof yet of this young artist’s stunning maturity." Le Devoir, 1997, Montreal
